چکیده

Severe hypokalemia can have life-threatening complications such as significant muscle weakness, ileus, rhabdomyolysis, and respiratory failure. Here, we report a case of 33-year-old male who presented with worsening lower extremity weakness falls after smoking marijuana for six months. Initial labs showed severe hypokalemia. EKG was remarkable first-degree AV block, widened QRS complex, ST segment depression. Intravenous potassium replacement resulted in complete resolution motor weakness. Our highlights the underdiagnosed association use clinically rare presentation acute paralysis.

He was admitted in the emergency department with flaccid tetraparesis and hypokalemia (1.4 mmol/L) which resolved after potassium administration. CACNA1S gene molecular study identified the mutation c.1583G>A-(p.Arg528His). Currently he is un...

Laboratory tests to determine the cause of hypokalemia and paralysis.

Failure to make a distinction between HPP and non-HPP may lead to improper management. Therefore, we evaluated the diagnostic value of spot urine tests in patients with hypokalemia and paralysis during 3 years. ...
